Happy New Year's!
The New Year is upon us! We hope everyone has a wonderful time ringing in the New Year!
We have shortened hours this week at Cinema Veterinary Centre so our staff can enjoy the festivities as well! On New Year’s Eve (Thursday, December 31st), we are open from 8am-1pm. We are closed New Year’s Day (Friday, January 1st) and Saturday (January 2nd). We resume normal business hours Monday, January 4, 2016!
Here are a few safety tips for our furry family members!
Make sure they have a space of their own! Give your pet his own quiet space to retreat to—complete with fresh water and a place to snuggle. Shy pups and cats might want to hide out under a piece of furniture, in their carrying case or in a separate room away from the hubbub and noise.
As you count down to the new year, please keep in mind that strings of thrown confetti can get lodged in a cat's intestines, if ingested, perhaps necessitating surgery.
Noisy poppers can terrify pets and cause possible damage to sensitive ears. And remember that many pets are also scared of fireworks, so be sure to secure them in a safe, escape-proof area as midnight approaches. It’s fun and beautiful for us, but the end of the world for them!
If your celebration includes adult holiday beverages, be sure to place your unattended alcoholic drinks where pets cannot get to them. If ingested, your pet could become weak, ill and may even go into a coma, possibly resulting in death from respiratory failure.
We want to make sure everyone enjoys New Year’s Eve and won’t be rushing to an emergency clinic with their pet! In the event that you need emergency services, there are two options in the Santa Clarita Valley.
