Welcoming your new Christmas Puppy!!

Puppy First Visit Check-List!

We can’t wait to meet your new family member! Below is a check list of items that will make your visit with us go just that much more smoothly and stress free!

Prior to Visit
• Is your puppy used to their carrier or leash? To get them used to their carrier, you can leave it out at home and make it a “safe” place for them. It also helps ensure safe and comfortable transport for your furry family member!
• Puppies love treats! Don’t feed them prior to their visit and we can use treats to help them relax and enjoy their visit!
• Have you considered pet insurance for your new puppy? Ask us for more information!
• Collect all paperwork from shelter/rescue/breeder to bring to the visit.
• We recommend a fecal sample yearly, but especially on new pets! We want to ensure they don’t come with unwelcome friends! Collect a fresh fecal sample (if exam is later in the day, a morning sample bagged and put in the refrigerator is good for 6 hours!) to bring with you to check for parasites. Feel free to bring sample in any kind of container convenient for you (plastic bag, Tupperware, etc.)!
• We will ask what kind of food and treats you feed them so make sure to write that down too! ___________________________________________________
• Write down any questions you can think of for the doctor and bring them with you!

At Visit
• Use your regular voice with your puppy – using “baby talk” will just rile them up more in an already stressing situation!
• Praise and positive reinforcement go a long way!
• Don’t worry – we won’t hurt your new baby! With that being said, this is a new experience for them and can be scary! A lot of puppies/kittens vocalize their displeasure with the thermometers, vaccines, etc. so if you would feel more comfortable waiting in the lobby or outside, that is okay!

If you have any additional questions prior to your visit, don’t hesitate to call us!

Not just better medicine but a better experience!
